Unknown Starbucks Barista part and Krups GVX2 rating questions

I have a Starbucks Barista espresso maker. I use it with a Krups GVX2 burr style grinder I bought from the Costco ($50). You can see in the photo a circular object to the left of the front of the Barista. I believe I read it is some sort of coffee pre soaker. Is it a pre soaker, and if so, how is it used. Also, what is the prevailing opinion of he Krups GVX2 burr grinder? Thanks in advance!

The item described is a single pod filter cup with adapter.
The rubber adapter goes in the filter holder first. Then place the filter cup. Place a coffee pod in the filter cup. Lock the filter holder in the machine and turn the switch on while still holding the handle pulled all the way to the right. Espresso will not flow through the coffee while the handle is held pulled to the right. Let the handle go at the end of six seconds. Espresso will fill the cup.
The proper use of the filter holder, descaling and other maintenance information is available on the following page link:

Good luck
Sincerely,
Edward

Ed, I sencod Ken's comment - you are, indeed, the man! I just followed your instructions to grind less fine, pre soak by holding the handle right for 5 seconds and had the best crema and espresso ever! Many thanks, Mike

Ken Wilber

Wilber's holism:::A key idea of Wilber's is the holon, which came from the writings of Arthur Koestler. He observed that it seems every entity and concept shares a dual nature: as a whole unto itself, and as a part of some other whole. For example, a cell in an organism is a whole and at the same time a part of another whole, the organism. Another example is that a letter is a self-existing entity and simultaneously an integral part of a word, which then is part of a sentence, which is part of a paragraph, which is part of a page; and so on. Everything from quarks to matter to energy to ideas can be looked at in this way...

Kale and Tomatoes | WholeFoodsMarket.com

In Kenya, this dish is called sukuma wiki, named after the dark, leafy greens from which it's made. The name translates roughly to "push the week," implying the ingredient's stellar ability to stretch meals, making them last to the end of the week.
