About the Food Club

Eric Anthony is the inspiration for this new group, the Food Club. We're starting it for him in our own words in hopes that he will revise everything on this almost clean slate.

Eric came to town with a vision. He began by cleaning up patches in local community gardens. Then, he went door to door hoping to start community projects. We learned how to make beetsa pizza and other delicious, healthy foods in a festive environment.

Then, he really began to cook! That's when Food Club began to materialize. His version of the age old kimchi will change your life. It will fill you up, make you feel lean and alert...after the meal! His home made cheese is delicious. He mixes in some cocoa and you have a light, semi-sweet dessert. You want rich? Ask Eric about his chocolate with black cherry dessert. I've never tasted anything so good.

Eric blogged a little stream of consciousness you can browse in the Food Club Reading List below. Take a look. Watch the Food Club fill up with content. I'm excited about it. I predict we'll learn a lot that will stick to our ribs here. Stay tuned!

This group looks promising!!!  We try to eat some enzyme-rich food with every meal.  Kimchi is perfect for that. Be careful of commercial Kimchi, though, because some of the seasoning mixes contain MSG. Ugh!

Do any of you have a book entitled Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon???

It's my fave.

"The noticeably bitter taste of turnip greens has been linked by researchers to its calcium content. On an ounce-for-ounce basis, turnip greens contain about 4 times more calcium than a much less bitter-tasting cruciferous vegetables like cabbage."

Russian Rye, Anyone?

Have you always wanted to make your own bread? Well, here's a little article about making rye bread with a bread machine. This bread machine came from a thrift store and only cost $11.99! The ingredients to make Russian Rye were so simple you won't believe how easy it was. Enjoy!
