The broccoli we grow at McRorie Community Garden is so tasty it sometimes doesn't make it home! I had this as a lunch reward after planting some good, hardy vegetables for my Spring garden.
This is the "after" photo of my patch after planting kale, collards, potatoes and cabbage.
I bought the sprouts at our local organic supply. Here, you can see some purple kale.
This is one of the 6 collard sprouts I planted. I chose the day to plant based on the moon phase and the weather prediction. It rained cats and dogs right after I planted. Big smile!
I grabbed some potatoes from the tool area and planted them. Sh'mal inspired me last year with his prowess in growing these tasty vegetables. So did Bruce and Bob with their tire planters. I use a photo of the tire planters as your default profile photo here on Zoobird.
Here's some of the ever present mint. I used some in this latest batch of kombucha. I'm on my third batch now. I'm using Turkish Caykur and Chinese green tea for this batch. Nice!
This guy is growing in Nick's patch. Looking good.
Here you can see the huge rosemary bush at my patch. There's a trusty McRorie chair just waiting for a sunny day and a book or just some time to reflect and enjoy the digs. Literally!
I planted the potatoes along the white picket fence in the back of my patch. You can see the soaker hose and tomato wire supports. I'll plant some tomatoes once it warms up a little. You may have noticed Michael Walker just joined Zoobird. He lives across the street and has lots of tomato sprouts. He offered to let me have some when I am ready for them. Double nice!
The horse manure we're sharing to organically fertilize our patches is wonderful. We're looking forward to some delicious vegetables this spring!

How many times have you passed signs that call out “You Pick”? Did you stop? I suggest you do. Here’s the drill: pull over, park it (a bike? Nice!) and walk in. Say hi, stretch your body and grab a bucket. Walk over to a tree full of fruit and eat a little. Most places don’t mind at all if you eat a bunch *and* buy some.<br />

Go hungry! Things taste better when you’re hungry. Don’t worry about what you’re going to take with you. Just eat as much as you want. It’s good for you. So is being outdoors. Did you bring some people you love? That’s key. It’ll be even more fun with people you love...
Wilber's holism:::A key idea of Wilber's is the holon, which came from the writings of Arthur Koestler. He observed that it seems every entity and concept shares a dual nature: as a whole unto itself, and as a part of some other whole. For example, a cell in an organism is a whole and at the same time a part of another whole, the organism. Another example is that a letter is a self-existing entity and simultaneously an integral part of a word, which then is part of a sentence, which is part of a paragraph, which is part of a page; and so on. Everything from quarks to matter to energy to ideas can be looked at in this way...

In Kenya, this dish is called sukuma wiki, named after the dark, leafy greens from which it's made. The name translates roughly to "push the week," implying the ingredient's stellar ability to stretch meals, making them last to the end of the week. Throughout the country, the popular dish is eaten without utensils, with chapati (a variety of flatbread) or ugali (a type of cornmeal mush) used to scoop up bites instead...
Broil quick-cooking vegetables like sliced red onions or bell peppers with the salmon, if you like, and serve over steamed kale. Or flake the salmon over spring greens and baby spinach and toss with the caramelized cherries for a gorgeous salad..
