SUMMARY:Online Botany Discussion
DESCRIPTION:\nFrom Marc Williams:\n\nI and others are currently workin
g on getting up a website to further focus our efforts and provide gre
ater resources. www.botanyeveryday.com More to come soon!!!\n\n\nThe i
nitial focus of the website is to list classes and events and also fac
ilitate an online discussion through the book Botany in a Day 5th edit
ion, by Thomas J. Elpel. My good friend and mentor Frank Cook, who cro
ssed over last year, led a similar discussion for 9 years through emai
 l. If you are interested in the class and don’t have the book then p
lease purchase it right away! Ideally get it directly from Thomas at h
ttp://www.hollowtop.com/contact.htm. Read through the first 16 pages t
o familiarize yourself once you have the book. The CLASS WILL BEGIN IN
ABOUT A WEEK. This class will allow you to understand the patterns of
the plant world and thereby greatly demystify the plant identificatio
n process. A new lesson will be posted every couple weeks through Octo
ber…If you want a notification when a new class is posted then send
me your email\n\nThe class will be offered by donation. $50 is the sug
gested amount. Your contributions will greatly aid my ability to walk
the path of ethnobotany while earning right livelihood as well.\n\n\n\
nYou can send checks, etc to\n\nMarc N. Williams\n\nPO Box 6362\n\nAsh
eville, NC 28816\n\n\n\ni will also have a paypal account set up on th
e website.\n\n\n\nUltimately i and several collaborators would like th
e site to be a resource for any and all things related to people and t
heir interactions with plants. My main focus is related to the tempera
te world and Appalachia specifically. However we have a team of people
also representing such diverse places as Florida, California, Costa R
ica and Peru. The goal is to meld a rigorous backbone of cited and res
earched data with an interface that allows various levels of anecdotal
content from visitors to the website. This website will also serve as
a repository for “typical” pictures of plants from a host of plan
t families.\n\nMost of my in the field scheduled events are in July an
d early August so far…After a very packed and intense spring of fiel
d teaching i am taking a small break to focus on other endeavors for t
he next few weeks including the website. However, i may be available f
or land consultations or other special events.\n\nFor more information
