DESCRIPTION:Greetings,\n\nWe are pleased to announce that Somaly Mam, 
 Cambodian human rights\nactivist, former slave and author of The Road 
 of Lost Innocence: The\nTrue Story of a Cambodian Heroine, will be spe
 aking Monday, September\n21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Ce
 ntral Florida in the Cape\nFlorida Ballroom of the Student Union. Her 
 presentation will be on \"The\nRoad of Lost Innocence.\"\n\nMam was bo
 rn in a tribal, ethnic minority family in Cambodia, and\nstruggled thr
 ough poverty and limited opportunities during her\nchildhood. She was 
 sold into slavery many times by a man who posed as\nher grandfather. S
 he was subjected to and witnessed horrific treatment,\ntorture, manipu
 lation and scare tactics. One night, she even saw a close\nfriend murd
 ered by one of her tormentors.\n\nFrom that moment on, she made it her
  mission to escape and later find a\nway to stop the vicious cycle. Sh
 e now focuses all her efforts on\nhelping young children and women who
  have become victims of slavery and\nhuman trafficking. For her effort
 s, Mam has been honored as a “CNN\nHero” and featured on various T
 V specials on CBC, CBS, NBC and MSNBC.\n\nThe event is free and open t
