HOME VAN PET CARE PROJECT NEWS

November/December 2009

Elizabeth Howard, Coordinator

This newsletter is dedicated to the memory of the young dog Obama

October 2008-November 2009

Obama was a good dog. He loved his people, James and Diane, and they loved him too. Obama was just a pup in this photo. When Obama came to Tent City, there were several puppies who came all together. We didn't know how we would help so many. The clinic ran out of vaccines and we were worried about having enough food. But the vaccines were replenished and food was donated and Obama grew to be a memorable young friend to many of us. Obama was struck and killed by a car on November 5, 2009. He will be well remembered and sorely missed by his many friends.

Wish list for our Dogs: Collars and leashes; Funds for County License Tags ($15 each); Any size bags of food (they especially like Pedigree); and doggy cookies.

Tigger is a member of the Tent City Tribe. One of his brothers, Sunshine Light, died this year from unknown causes and Tigger himself had an injury to his leg and back, which is now healing with rest and care from his Home Van Pet Care friends.

Abby and Duchess, our “littlest refugees” from the Tent City evictions are still in foster care, awaiting a permanent home.

Wish list for our Cats: Any size bags of food (special favorites are Friskies and Meow mix, fishy flavors) and 5 oz. Cans of Friskies, fishy flavors always!

Extra blankets for dogs and cats are also always appreciated, and we are collecting all size crates/carriers for both dogs and cats so that St. Francis clinic will have them to house the animals when their human friends take refuge from the cold nights ahead.

We wish you all well, the best of holidays, with thanks for all your generosity throughout the year.

To donate funds, make check payable to Society of St. Vincent dePaul (our umbrella non-profit) and mail to Elizabeth Howard, P.O. Box 14305, Gainesville FL 32604. You can designate cats, dogs or license tags if you like.

To donate food or other items, call Elizabeth at 352-337-2723 or email holisticliz@hotmail.com.
