DR Help - Coffee to help the Dominican Republic!
DR HELP is a not-for-profit organization comprised of University of Florida physicians, nurses, and select medical, pharmacy, and nursing students. The group travels annually to the Dominican Republic on humanitarian medical outreach trips. the group is currently planning its 12th annual trip to the Dominican Republic.
Our primary aim, as DR HELP, is to provide much needed healthcare to impoverished areas in the DR. To this end, we have set up clinics in villages surrounding Jarabacoa, the poor inner region of the island. In these clinics, we provide free medical care, education, and medications to a population that has severely limited access to health care. Last year, we provided medical care to nearly 1,200 individuals, while distributing thousands of dollars worth of medications and health care supplies (antibiotics, vitamins, anti-parasitics, anti-fungals, analgesics, eyeglasses, toothbrushes).
DR HELP represents a tremendous humanitarian effort to serve the neediest people of the DR. It also provides an unparalleled educational experience for medical, nursing, and pharmacy students interested in international medicine. Since this project is funded entirely through the efforts of UF medical students, any contributions are greatly beneficial and deeply appreciated.

~Sweetwater Coffee DR HELP Fundraiser~
DR HELP has paired up with the Sweetwater Organic Coffee Company based in Gainesville, Florida to help us reach our fundraising goals. Sweetwater has generously offered to supply us with Gourmet Fair Trade Organic Coffee from the Dominican Republic and other parts of the South America at a reduced price. In purchasing the Sweetwater DR HELP Blend you will not only be supporting our medical mission trip but also rural coffee farmers in the Dominican Republic. For each bag of coffee sold, $10.00 will go directly to purchasing vitamins, medicines, and medical supplies for our patients in the DR.
