Rachel, Here are two excerpts from McSweeneys I particularly like:

A N E W E X C E R P T F R O M M c S W E E N E Y 'S 2 9
The convicts came from the ocean. They were orphaned when their ship, the Amaziah, broke apart on the rocky Western Cliffs. It took them forty days to reach Peterson. They stood outside the city walls as Peterson looked down on them from the parapets. Sunburned and battered, in threadbare jumpsuits, they pleaded from the gates. "We're hungry," they called. "Look at us. Look at us! We have eaten our stores and our dead. We don't know how to survive out here. We need food."

Hi Rachel,

Here's a picture of your patch I took yesterday:

Hope all is well! How's the writing program coming along? I got Padgett Powell's book "Edisto", by the way. RSVP, Mike

Hi, You sound interesting. What exactly is Omnivorous cooking? I have done pickling/fermenting in the past as well as a lot of breadmaking-not sourdough, though. I'd love a recepie for sourdough bread. I also would like to invite you to join my new group called Environmental Zoo where you can express your concerns, solutions, ideas or anything else you'd like to. See you there.

This is the restaurant I mentioned on Horatio in Winter Park. It's my favorite Korean place in Winter Park.

I got a copy of Edisto. I'll keep you posted... Planted some bok choy and mesclun (imagine that) yesterday and some spinich and radishes today.

Hi Rachel and welcome to Zoobird!

Omnivorous cooking...sounds like a good topic for a new Group. I say that having just started cooking some fresh lamb with the collard greens and peppers from the McRorie Community Garden.

Here's that photo I gracefully snapped today of you (linked to the Photos section so you can click and go there):

You'll see the photo of your garden in the Photos section, too!

Thanks for the tips about the Creative Writing program at Univ of FL. I am about to look up "Edisto", by Padgett Powell.

The magazine I mentioned is Elephant, and you can find my stuff there by searching for either author michael or "Homelessness".

See ya soon! I'll be planting this weekend....or at the full moon around the 15th. Thanks for that, too!
