Dangerously organic!

I heard a rumor that the City of Gainesville is giving away free compost bins that you can pick up where they distribute the recycle bins. Does anyone have one? Do they work well? I have always had the old fashioned kind, more of a compost "heap", like a pile in the backyard -- but I am "patio" gardening now, and I am looking for something more contained that may work a little faster. At the moment I am using the black plastic garbage bag method.

Here's the scoop:

"Free wire compost bins for residents inside the city limits are available at the Solid Waste Division, 201 NW 10 th Ave, 334-2330. Call Alachua County Waste Management, 374-5213 for residents who live outside the city limits of Gainesville."
