Water everywhere and Even Drops to Drink!

There was a time not so long ago that the concept of paying for drinking water made people gasp with astonishment. People poured used motor oil in street sewer drains because they didn't know any better. Trash was hauled offshore without thinking and dumped. Homeowners fertilized their lawns carelessly, unaware that the rainwater took the chemicals into nearby lakes. These were the same lakes that that the homeowners swam in, waterskied and fished.

Now, drinking tap water is not as common as bottled water, or at least water that has been purified. Water conservation programs are in place. Communities encourage lawn watering on specific days. And, water awareness programs are more commonly educating us about how to care for our water resources.

This group is here for us to share information about water, our precious resource. Not everything about water conservation is obvious! So, let us know if you have a tip. Where are the best fishing areas, with the safest, cleanest fish? What are the smartest approaches to irrigation? Who's doing the most to help keep our environment clean? How can we help?

Water wars: Taking from Oklahoma to give to North Texas.
Water transported through pipelines and pumping stations,
Cost between $500 million and $4 billion and take five years to build.
Another $15 million to $60 million a year to transport water.
At what point do we realize that desalination is far cheaper than depletion?
Soon the choice will be do you want fish or do you want children.

Ken Wilber

Wilber's holism:::A key idea of Wilber's is the holon, which came from the writings of Arthur Koestler. He observed that it seems every entity and concept shares a dual nature: as a whole unto itself, and as a part of some other whole. For example, a cell in an organism is a whole and at the same time a part of another whole, the organism. Another example is that a letter is a self-existing entity and simultaneously an integral part of a word, which then is part of a sentence, which is part of a paragraph, which is part of a page; and so on. Everything from quarks to matter to energy to ideas can be looked at in this way...
