There are formulas for fiction, schematics for documentaries, rules of the road. There are also no rules you have to follow, if that's what you want. e.e. cummings hated capitalization. Hemingway wrote short, terse sentences. Bukowski splattered his pages with profanity.
This group is for people who love writing. It's a place to share tips, ideas and ask questions. Feel free to bounce your snippets off your friends here. Figurine
They whirled below me, happy, heartless, free,
While I was left alone, all to myself,
They danced, they sang, they even called to me;
I did not hear them, standing on my sheslf
Of sorrow, hanging high upon a wall
Of solemn, rigid wood; I watched that crowd
Below me, gliding through their spacious hall,
I would not join them, I was much too proud.
But suddenly the nailed shelf gave way,
I left it and went reeling through the air,
I fell amidst the others, shattered clay,
I looked about, then soon became aware
That once I was too high upn a wall
To feel the joy of others in the hall.
