Here's a message from Sh'mal that he said I could share with Zoobirds. This came after I sent him the beautiful shot of McRorie Community Garden at sunset you see above.
"Michael, how much more nostalgic can you make my life than by showing me a picture of that corner of the garden, or maybe a corner of this planet, that has been an integral part of my life for the past few years? It is my life. All those veggies that have become part of this physical body I carry with me. Odd way to describe life, but probably more accurate than is usually done. After spending four days at the Abode of the Message, the Sufi community in New Lebanon NY, I’m again filled with an abundance of compassion and love for the suffering in our world. Too much is play when so many are suffering intolerably. Sufi’s, and most spiritual paths, are teaching that we have received now we must give. It ain’t all play, this is serious business; the suffering in the world is our gift to measure our ability to share what we have been given. The message in our time, maybe all times, is the “do unto other” thing. Watch them weeds grow. My good gardening thoughts to all the McRorieites. Sh’mal"
