Feathered Friend from Afar visits the Garden

We have all sorts of visitors at the McRorie Community Garden. Yesterday, a rather large bird dropped by just before sunset.

He saw us and we saw him. When I started taking pictures, he seemed to notice and perked up.

Then, he just decided to chill and lay back.

Meanwhile, our fine friend Mycol, featured in the recent "Living off the Grid" article on Elephant Journal is back in from the field. Mycol has a Facebook page and if you want to see many pictures of Finca Mycol, request to be his friend. It'll add to the picture and you'll have a deeper understanding of living off the grid.

Ron Chandler works to help elephants. He started an organization called The Conservation Initiative For The Asian Elephant. He's headed off to Nepal and India on Monday. He'll be gone 8 weeks! Keep an eye on his Zoobird blog for details of his trip. He'll be keeping a travel journal there.
