Yesterday, I headed up to McRorie Community Garden and had a look at my patch. There were some radishes ready to pick. Thanks to Zoobird Bob Tuskin and his Survivalist seeds for these! I gathered some mint and collard greens, as well.…
The photo above is one of the first I took of the McRorie Community Garden. It's been a cold December-January, and some freezes have had an impact on the plants in our garden. But, today, for the first time in weeks, it's both warm and dry. The sun is shining. You can click the photo above and see the album I made of the McRorie Community Garden and all the people there. It's… Continue

What a beautiful afternoon! Click on the photo above to see some gorgeous pix of the garden.
My jalapeno peppers yielded a few hot ones for the weekend. There's nothing better than fresh picked peppers. These aren't too firey hot, but they're a lot hotter than Poblanos or… Continue
The birds were singing, the breeze was blowing and you could smell the rosemary in the garden the other day. I've been all over the place the past few weeks and had finally a chance to drop by my patch to tend the plants.
That's McRorie community gardener Nick in the photo above. He and I chatted and I hope you all get a chance to meet him virtually here at the Zoobird community. I wrote about this latest Great Day in the Garden on Elephant… Continue

There's something about hot peppers, especially jalapeños, that just makes me feel great. It all goes back to my days growing up in the Southwest. Peppers are such a part of the culture in Mexico, Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Colorado (to name just a few places) that its impossible to ignore them. You just get involved to one degree or… Continue

Some of you may remember Bruce from the McRorie Community Garden. Don't worry. He hasn't passed away! He's just moved on. Hope he comes back sometime. I loved his patch. He had climbers that covered the sides of the unique, fencelike structure he put up surrounding his garden...
Last month, I was at Burning Man during the full moon. Yes, there's still playa dust on a couple of things. It's hard to believe that a month has passed already.
I was joking that I hated it in the post about Burning Man. I actually checked my calendar to see if I was free for… Continue

The cinnamon basil is finally growing enough so I can grab handfuls of it. There are some delicious cherry tomatoes. You'll see some urban mandalas. The mandalas have been moved to new places in the garden… Continue

It's been raining cats and dogs at the garden. I dropped by the Alachua Feed and Seed store and bought some hay, sprouts and cow manure. I think I planted these little starts at just the right time. Watermelon, jalapeno pepper, tomato, basil, cinnamon basil, and some sweet pepper. Click on the photo to see the set. Meanwhile, you'll see some beautiful oregano, healthy corn,… Continue
